Baihetan Hydropower Station is a 300m-level extra high concrete double curvature arch dam, which is divided into 31 dam sections, with the highest dam height of 289 meters and the crest arc length of 709 meters. The dam body is arranged with 6 bottom diversion holes, 7 deep drainage holes and 6 surface drainage holes. The total concrete pouring of the dam body reaches 8.03 million cubic meters.

Baihetan Hydropower Station has a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts, ranking second in the world. With a capacity of 1 million kilowatts, it ranks first in the world. It is the second of the four hydropower steps on the lower reaches of the Jinsha River -- Wudongbo, Baihetan, Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba. The dam site is located at the border of Ningnan County in Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County in Yunnan Province. The development of Baihetan Hydropower Station mainly focuses on power generation, taking into account flood control, sand control and navigation, etc. It is the backbone power source of China's "power transmission from west to east" and an important part of the flood control system of the Yangtze River Basin.
